Why I love local bookstores

Local bookstores are my favorite place to find and purchase books. If I don’t have anything specific I’m looking for, I love wandering the shelves and reading book descriptions. I always ask the staff for their recommendations, and they are always so helpful and ready to answer and guide me through recommendations.

Many of the local bookstores I’ve visited also have a selection of items (jewelry, bookmarks, etc.) from local businesses and artists. Even if I don’t buy any of them today, I catalog them in my mind and come back when I’m gift shopping.

Buying from locally owned bookstores also contributes to the local economy, and I try to shop locally whenever possible. I understand not everyone has the extra funds to buy local every time (or at all), but if you do, these are excellent places to spend those extra dollars.

You can visit Bookshop.org to find local bookstores in your area and purchase books online, all while benefiting these local bookstores.
